It was fitting that Florence Wald, at the age of 91, died peacefully in her home in 2008. Her husband of 40 years, Henry Wald, died in 2000.

When inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame, Mrs. Wald was quoted as saying, "We need to cure sometimes, but care always.”
