Ethic Case

Ethics is something that is learned and chosen throughout our lives. Sometimes people have blind spot that does not allow to see their own unethical behaviors. This spot does not allow to see the gap between who we think we are, who we would like to be, and who we think we really are. In the business, sometime people are asked to do something unethical. Sometime people lose their job for do the right things. Business ethics is the important issue in the organization. Business ethics is the study of standards of business behavior which promote human welfare and the good.

In my opinion, ethical business behaviors are also the company responsibility. Management have a responsibility to set an example that reflect the company expectation such as policy, rule and regulation. Some employees who have strong ethics in personal and professional life, the company does not need to explain too much to that employees. Anyway, the company should have ethics training program for the employees by top management. There are many ethics that are necessary in the company, for example, punctuality, responsibility, integrity, team work, positive attitude and professionalism. Training on ethics in the company is very necessary. Ethics can help a lot in effective productivity. In training program, management should give feedback to the employees and their good behaviors should be acknowledged. However, ethics depends on the situation. The company trains employees on ethics, it depends on the employees to choose it, but it is important to communicate ethical values to employees as the company is giving them the authority to take appropriate ethical decision in any given situation.

Ethical business behaviors should be in a MBA program as well. Business ethics and social responsibility is a very important topic as we see from the Enron and Tyco case study. Unethical behavior among top management allow them to get profits and short term gain. The situation can persuade even the most ethical and compassionate people to betray their own value and it is a nature of human to follow of the leaders or group by sense of security even though they know they are doing the wrong things. So, it is important of MBA program as a business program to teach about ethical business behaviors. It will emphasis future business leaders to think about act with the utmost integrity and do not focus only about making money or short term gain. They should focus on how to manage the company
