Corporate Culture

Corporate culture can be defined as the soul, the personality of an organization by its values, guiding beliefs, and structure shared by all the members of a corporation. It consists of norms, rules of conduct, dress code, business hours, management styles, and interpersonal relationships and behaviors. The different types of organizations can be seen by the way the furniture is arranged, what employees wear and how they express themselves.

Positive Aspects of Corporate Culture

One positive aspect of an organization culture is by recognizing employee’s milestones and accomplishments. Letting the employees know how important they are to the organization it is a significant component to a thriving. Employees that are recognized and honored inside the corporation or to teamwork, their morale improves enormously making them fulfill. Another aspect of positive culture is the financial benefit, for example, productivity bonuses, Christmas bonuses or any other incentives that the organization includes as part of the company employee rewards program. These two aspects make people increases productivity, performance and motivated. Also, as a benefit for a corporate culture to succeed and exceed, employees should have technical skills and soft skills to accomplish what is expected of each person.

There is another aspect to address inside organizations, and that is empowerment where employees have the ability or power to make decisions or have the authority to take care of customer needs. Every person within an organization should be part of managing customer improving quality and expectations.

Negative Aspects of Corporate Culture

A negative aspect of corporate culture is when the organization has high employee turnover due to dissatisfaction.  Occasionally, some organizations with rigid policies and strict rules, employees tend to put resistance to changes where they end up quitting, or the top management releasing employees if they do not fit or follow the company’s rules and policies.  Another negative aspect is when organizations do not have efficient and effective communication channels established.  The organizational culture is created by the leaders of the organization and ingrained into the core of the way things should be communicated and how business is done. A positive working culture influences productivity and healthier environment. Having excellent communication and exchanging information within the company is what maintain all processes going smooth and built positive relationships inside and outside the organization.

American Medical Depot

Now will be describe the writer’s workplace culture. The organization of American Medical Depot (AMD) is a private manufacturer and medical supply distributor of hospitals supplies and equipment for leading health care systems. Was founded, owned and operated since 1993 by two brothers in a small industrial area in South Florida and has extended to be one of the largest innovative, diversified healthcare supplier distributors in the Nation. This company has approximately 250 employees in multiple offices in Tampa, South Miami and Pennsylvania, and some other distribution centers throughout the United States. The entire company sees diversity as an integral part of who they are, how they operate, and their future. For American Medical Depot diversity is not a policy it’s a formula of success. The diversity of personalities reflects a culture around respecting, amplifying, valuing and leveraging differences to drive business results.

The company’s mission is “We Care, We listen, We learn, We save lives” (Sukrit, 2016). The organization’s vision is to be number one world class distributors to hospitals, military bases, government hospitals, clinics in the Nation and overseas.

American Medical Depot values are based on accountability to customers and each other, dedication to jobs and roles to promote great environment that fosters innovation, and quality of all they do and final results. One of American Medical Depot goals is to succeed meeting its responsibilities to their employees by treating each person with respect and dignity and always providing a safety workplace and healthy environment.
