Apple's Hardware
Strengths
Apple's strength lies in its hardware department, specifically its Desktop computers. Apple does not follow most computer manufacturer's ideas of Form follows function. An Apple is appealing to the eye, and this is relayed in the clean lines and surfaces of its machines, and the sleek look of its operating systems. Currently, Apple's PowerMac G5 provides one of their greatest strengths. This beast of a computer runs on Dual processors, and 64 bit architecture which enables them to be as fast as the latest from AMD and Intel.
The iMac offers customers the ability to purchase a powerful all in one system, that takes up only as much space as a flat panel monitor. The system is as powerful as any desktop system, and offers advanced features such as a remote control for playing music and videos that tucks away into the frame of the computer for storage.
The Mini Mac is an ultra small form factor computer that measures (Insert dimensions here) It offers consumers an even smaller option for a desktop computer, and saves even more space than most laptops!
Weaknesses
Apple's weaknesses in their hardware is the fact that they currently rely on IBM to produce their Power PC Chips. IBM has been struggling lately to provide these devices at a decent rate of speed. Apple faces competition in the fact that Apple models have been Difficult to upgrade. Not the case now with their new G5 model. Apple computers are also more expensive than a PC. Apple's llowest price full size desktop system starts at $1999! Apple hardware is also less popular to write software for. Software manufacturers know that Apple has less than 10% of the worlds market, and games and other products consistently are released later on the Mac platform than on PC, sometimes up to 2-3 years later.
Opportunities
Apple has the distinct opportunity to break into a much greater market. With the upcoming switch from Power PC to Intel x86 brand chipsets, no longer will Mac users be forced to wait for software to come to their machines. This opens up the possibility for increased hardware expandability and
