Today piercing your body is becoming more and more common. Some people still have their reservations about putting holes in your body, but it is more widely accepted. The younger generations want a way to separate themselves from others and this is their way of expression. While older generations like parents see it as tacky and as just a fad that will pass. Much of the same is also said about tattoos.

People in today's society that say body art and piercing is just a fad are just quick to shoot off their mouth about something they don't like. If they would study the past before opening their mouths they might just learn they are wrong. In many cultures piercing and tattoos are a sign of honor and royalty to show an individuals importance. This has been practiced for many centuries not just in the past 10 to 15 years like in America. With the Eastern world is finally having its effects on the Western world and some people just aren't ready. As the world is becoming more of a huge melting pot more and more cultures are starting to blend together. In other cultures where Americans are having more of an effect on people some are reluctant to accept our ways too.

Many adults say that you will regret doing these things to your body once you get older or the style goes away. But to the younger generation that isn't the case. It is a way for us to express ourselves and show our individuality. As for the style going away, that doesn't seem to be coming any time in the near future. The piercing idea is relatively new and just now starting to become popular among younger people. And why would we regret being young and doing something that we want and makes us happy. Our parents were young once and they did things they may regret now, but that is a lesson for us to learn for ourselves as a part of growing up. Our parents always want us to grow up and be more responsible, but we won't learn unless we can make our own mistakes and learn from them. After all isn't that part of becoming an adult, learning from your wrongs and becoming a better person because of them.

Many people who have been pierced or tattooed haven't done it on the spur of the moment like many people think. When people decide to get body art they want something that helps define their personality and put much thought into the process. People that get tattoos often design their own art
