Ender's Leadership

In Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game, The main character, Ender, is thrown into the position of having to lead several times throughout his journey, primarily when he was put in charge of dragon army. When Ender commanded Dragon army, he was give three and a half weeks to prepare his army instead of the normal three months, in these three and a half weeks Ender had prepared his army enough to defeat his opponent. The fact that Ender was able to defeat all of rabbit army with only one soldier fully frozen is a testimony to Ender's tactical skills and his ability to lead an army to such a prestigious victory with such little preparation time. Another toast to Enders capability as a leader comes when he allows Crazy Tom to go through the gate for the victory. The reason this demonstrates good leadership is because the act shows caring for the moral of the army and also he praises his Toon leader to show that reward is given to those who deserve it.

There are some who may say ender does not have a great deal of skill in leadership because he is not very orthodox, but because he is unorthodox makes his tactics even more impressive. All of the commanders in battle school Besides Ender have a four Toon system, Ender has a five Toon system which allows him to develop his soldiers into better positions. There is copious amounts of evidence suggesting of enders capability as a leader through his tact and the way that he trained his soldiers to always be able to perform any maneuver. This is demonstrated when Ender tells his soldiers that everything that they are told to do has a purpose. All of what Ender taught to his army shows that he is a very competent soldier which is very necessary in becoming the commander, or leader, of an army.
