Life
People's lives in this world are full of the good and the bad; happiness and sadness, and through it all everyone decides their own destiny and fortune. In comedies, much of the story is predictable because comedies use the same fundamental characters and ideas. If these characteristics of comedies were applied in real life, the result would be very boring and dull. These qualities include always having a happy ending, stock characters, and fecundity of life. Many times in life, nothing will go the way it was planned. From not receiving a good grade on the last test to not getting the girl, many things in life simply do not go the way they should. Everyone knows this, understands this, and accepts this as a true fact. However, in a comedy, this possibility is not allowed to occur. Whatever is being sought is eventually gained no matter what the odds or consequences. It would be nice to get matters to always work out; however, that would also take away the thrill of achieving a goal against the odds. To reach their goals, many people have to overcome obstacles not sure about what lies ahead or the eventual result. This adds to the pride of finally attaining that goal. If the possibility of failure were removed, then it would take the satisfaction out of accomplishing a goal. Knowing and associating with a diverse group of people makes life interesting. From friends to acquaintances, the many different qualities that people possess make life exciting and different. If everyone were one-dimensional and fit into a certain role life would become very boring because nobody would be different. No one in life has a set role as a miser or lover. Everyone brings their own uniqueness to the world weaving a tapestry of diversity. Fecundity of life means the celebration of life. In comedies the characters are always at big dinners, parties, weddings, or fairs. In real life partying all day and not having to work to earn anything would be great for a while. However, it would soon become tedious as well as unfulfilling. Achieving goals through hard work makes the reward that much better. The satisfaction earned by the time and effort to achieve a goal is much better than having it given with no work. Every day people experience life by finding new challenges and new goals. People meet new members of their community and learn new things. Applying the concepts of comedies to real life would ruin much of the excitement
