A Brief History of the Roman Empire
Before Rome became "The Roman Empire" it was a small farming community located on the Tiber River. They right near the area of Carthage and eventual when to warm with them and defeated them and conquered them. After conquering them and taking over their lands they became the largest Mediterranean state in this time becoming the Roman Republic because their republic form of government. But weren't contempt with just this area and continued their conquests. After conquering from England to Africa and from Syria to Spain they became the Roman Empire. Once they became an empire they still kept their republic form of government.
They had many leaders or emperors throughout the years of this empire. Beginning with Julius Caesar and ending with Romulus Augustulus also know as Romulus Augustus. Caesar as we already know and will read was assassinated by Cassius and Brutus. He was stabbed twenty-three times by them on the floor of the Roman Senate. This was one of the first assassinations in history. The romans also invented many things that helped our societies today, like their architecture that is still used today in many buildings. They also used aqueducts for irrigation because it was hard to get water into the city so they had it travel overhead.
After hundreds of years the fall of the Roman Empire finally came. It was mostly because of rebellions and many shifts in power. You can say the empire never really completely fell. The capital was moved to Constantinople and that became the Byzantine Empire. It basically was a continuation of the Roman Empire. Moving it Constantinople saved the whole entire society from collapsing.
