A DEGREE CHANGE MY LIFE?
There are so many reasons that I could list on how a college degree could or would change my life. But the three that mean the most to me would be, being able to finally have a strong sense of pride in myself, the thought of making more money, and learning a lot form my education that it will better my life as well as my family's or anyone that I may come in contact with.
Being able to finally have a strong sense of pride in myself will be a great feeling. I will be the first person in my family that will go to college and earn a degree. I am also being a role model for my kids and family. Having a son that struggles in school because of some learning disabilities and having Attention Deficit Disorder. He looks up to me as well as my other kids do. An example: when my son found out that I was going back to get my GED and then go on to college, I had to take him early to school on morning to the Junior High has he was getting out of the car he turned to me and said, "I love you mom, now go home and study so that you can pass your GED. I want to see you go onto college." That made my day and has helped me push harder for this. If I can do it at thirty three anyone can do it.
Knowing that I can make more money, being able to put money away into a retirement fund is a very nice feeling as well. Figures could range form hundreds of thousands to a million dollars over a lifetime. Regardless of the details I could make a lot more money with a college degree then I could if I didn't have one. Being able to take some financial burden off my husband, bettering my life as well as my family's by making more money, and finally having something to look forward to when I am old, the stability of a retirement fund. I couldn't do most of this if I did not pursue my dream and graduate college.
Better educating myself for life, knowing that what I could or would learn in a career that I choose will stay with me the rest of my life. I will learn a lot that will not only benefit myself but my family's as well. Knowing that if something were to happen to someone that I will have been educated and have the knowledge I can and will be able to help them out because I will have been well educated in the career that I love.
