A facility above all others

My senses are overwhelmed as I eat my turkey sub sandwich. It is the time of day that I treasure as much as sleep. I sit in a tranquilized state of mind, as I examine my surroundings. Many sights and sounds arouse my attention that can only be found here. I am in the University Center. I can already tell an interesting lunch awaits me.

People can be spotted all around the room. The majority of the room's population is students. It is very noisy. Numerous ominous conversations make it difficult to focus on any specific conversation. Friendly competitions are also being held around me. A well dressed man bursts with excitement as his 8ball falls into a pocket. The breaking of billiard balls mark the beginning of a new game of pool. I wonder when these pool tables were added and remember they were used as regular tables in the previous week.

The area has been cleared, and students now have more room to socialize. It is all fun and enjoyment for some, while others are here to handle important tasks. Employees look content as they stand behind their counters, desks, and stoves. Nothing out of the ordinary is happening to spark excitement. For others it is a typical day with no special events happening, but it all seems new and intriguing to me. I am distracted from my meal by the environment. I may never finish eating.

The cool air is refreshing compared to the hot oven outside. I could relax on this comfortable long couch for hours. Its long cushions are like soft flowers. It has a very modern look that blends in with the rest of the room's furniture. My mood changes as I realize the sub shop forgot to toast my sandwich. I knew I should have been paying closer attention while the nice lady made my sandwich. I was probably distracted by the sweet scent of honey mustard behind the counter. I also had the choice of eating fried rice, chicken, or pizza if I wanted. All the food offered has a beautiful aroma surrounding their stations. I could stand in its presence all day just smelling chicken. I notice many other students debating over the variety of food offered here.

I look up to admire the wonderful architecture of the facility. The high ceilings create the feeling of endless stretching room. Even an elephant could stand in the middle and not feel crowded. There are long windows on the wall to gaze into the sky. Also on the wall is a huge clock. The
