A Friend Who Changed My Life
A year into my high school career, I met a person who to this day has had a large effect on me, my personality, and my outlook on life. It was only after her recent departure from South Africa that I realized exactly what a big part of my life she was, and now I understand how it feels to lose a wonderful person, and an amazing friend.
Early every morning she was there, waiting for me. We always greeted with a wide smile, the use of words not necessary to express just how happy we were to have another day in each other's company. There was never a dull moment around her, and our conversations were always humorous and interesting. She was a person I could turn to in a boring Maths lesson, and the person I could talk to when I felt like the whole world was collapsing around me.
She was one in a million. The memories we share will stay with me forever. Her shy, warming smile, the twinkle in her eyes, her amazing personality, her beautiful singing voice... I miss it all. I will never be able to put into words just how painful her departure was for me. I will never forget our last moments together at the airport, and how big a loss I felt as I watched her walk away, finally realizing she wasn't going to turn around and say it was all a big joke.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Others come and leave footprints on our hearts. But sooner or later, we realize that, eventually, they'll have to go too...
She was a young, beautiful, bubbly, enthusiastic person that made the world a better place to live in. To be her friend made my life worthwhile. She was my best friend, and I'll remember her forever...
