A Lesson on Friendship
"Oh my god I would never be her friend", were one of the many lines I use to say about my best friend now. Friends are hard to come by these days, there are some who you think you can trust. While the others turn out to be people, you never thought they would be.
My best friend and I go back to the 7th grade. A grade in which popularity is everything. I was the quiet type, the type who did not really talk to anyone. And did not care if I did. Not knowing who she was, from the moment that I saw her I knew that I did not like her. Her with her stupid cell phone and the perfect hair. It drove me insane. I guess you could say it was more of a jealousy thing.
Everyday, I remember seeing her either walking in the halls or talking on her phone. Thoughts of how I knew I would never want to be her friend or even talk to her somehow it would run through my mind. I wonder if she felt the same? Too bad, I would never know.
Time went by, leaving 7th grade and going to a different school opened many opportunities of making new friends and forgetting the past.
Before I knew it, high school was here, how excited I was, new school, new people, a completely new world.
Not knowing that I would soon see her again. Not only did I see her, but we also hung out in the same group with the same people. How weird is that? After getting to know her a little bit better. I kept thinking to myself, "How could I be so rude and judge someone on how they look, without even knowing them"? I felt extremely bad. It made me think that I was the one who was being the stuck up person. I should have taken the time to get to know her better. However, who doesn't judge people when they first see them. This is just what teenagers do these days. "Oh I don't like her"; "She is so stuck up". Stupid things like this makes you seem like the bad person. You never know if the person who you judge could be the best friend that you ever had.
Trust me, I know my best friend is the person that I judges without even getting to know she was. And I would not trade anything for her. She is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. Not
