A Wagner Matinee Willa Cather

Within a lifetime there are many decisions you have to make. In my lifetime there have not been many big decisions but I have always been reminded that choices you make now will affect you forever. My family has always taught me that you may have only one chance to make the right choice, so choose wisely. Most of the time my father will tell me that I have to make my choice by what my heart tells me and what I believe is right. Some character choices in this story show this all too well.

The whole story starts with a letter from Uncle Howard states that his wife will be coming in to town. During the time frame this story is set in mail is very slow and Uncle Howard had not sent his letter to Clark until the very last minute. Aunt Georgiana has not seen an opera in almost three decades and Clark does not know if she will get anything from an opera after so many years. He eventually decides to take her and she enjoys it with the passion from many years ago, along with the memories it brings back.

The moral with this is that a choice that you make can mean a lot later. I agreed with Aunt Georgiana and Uncle Howard's decision to elope because they meant something to each other that no one could stop. I
