Landon Carter was a typical teenage boy growing up in the late 1950's. He often recalls his senior year in high school (1958), a year that would change his life forever.

Landon had dated a couple of girls in high school and he even said he had fallen in love with one of them, but certainly he never thought he would fall for Jamie Sullivan. Jamie was shy, conservative and in Landon's eyes, a complete dork. Not to mention, she was the daughter of a Baptist Minister.

It was time for the homecoming dance and Landon was looking for a date, but all the girls he knew had already been asked. He was left with two options: go to the dance alone or ask Jamie? Hesitant in his decision, he asked Jamie to be his date at the dance. Of course she said yes because Jamie never said no to anyone in need. He was later asked to perform the lead role with Jamie in the Christmas play that Jamie's dad had written. Reluctantly, he said yes. Through the long hours spent in rehearsals and after school run-throughs, Jamie and Landon spent a lot of quality time together. After the night of the play, Landon realized something. He realized how in love he was with Jamie. He found out what kind of person she actually was and he knew she was someone special. It seemed to be a perfect ending. Jamie and Landon were falling more and more in love with each other, but their destiny was soon changed. Could Landon and Jamie survive this sudden obstacle?

This book is Amazing. It's another masterpiece by Sparks. I envy the pure and innocent love between Landon and Jamie. Nicholas Sparks did a wonderful job creating such a touching and compassionate love story of two teenagers, robbed of their youth at the end. I would recommend that all high school students read this book. The more I got into it, the harder it was for me to put this book down. The easy, flowing read made it the perfect book for a raining day or a day at the beach. You should READ THIS BOOK!!
