Abortion
Abortion is one of the most common procedures performed in the United States. More then 40 percent of all women will end a pregnancy by abortion at some time in their reproductive lives. Abortion is a rising problem in the United States. It is becoming more and more popular. In this essay I will be talking about the cause and why it is becoming more popular. I will also be talking about the statistics on abortion. Abortion is removing a living fetus from a women’s womb. “The US Supreme Court legalized abortion in 1973. There are about 1.2 million abortions each year. 20-30 million legal abortions are performed each year, with another 10-20 million abortions performed illegally. Illegal abortions are unsafe and account for 13% of all deaths of women because of serious complications. Death from abortion is almost unknown in the United States or in other countries where abortion is legally available.” (Suzanne R. Trupen, 2015, Abortion and Overview)
Abortion is common in the ages 16-23. It is most common in poor, white, young and unmarried women. The reason they are so common now a days is because plant parenthood. In this day and age young women have the pressure of going to college and making a life for themselves. Women are also more sexually active. With these two factors it makes it more likely for young women to get pregnant. But with these factors it also makes it harder to have a child at that young of an age. It takes a lot to have a child. You have to financially support the child, have the time because a newborn baby always needs the care and attention and it also takes a lot of effort whether it be waking up at night or putting them to bed. With all that being said its clear that it would be very hard to raise a child at that age. I am not a supporter of abortion. I am pro life. I find it so sad that these young women are not careful when having sex and get pregnant then have an abortion to fix their problem. I’m a firm believer that if you were not careful and you created a baby then you need to pay the consequence. Babies are beautiful things and a gift but people make having a baby a negative thing. I understand that some mothers that want to keep the baby do not want to raise it in their care because they cannot properly take care of the baby. But I do believe that it is okay to have the baby and give it up for adoption. In this case, you would be giving the baby a chance at life instead of killing it. Now, there are some cases in which there is a rape and the predator gets the victim pregnant. Some believe that it is not right to bring a baby into the world with a crazy father because it will effect the baby. My view on this situation is that no one can predict the future. I believe that the baby could have possible problems but they are not their father , they are a different human being and can take a stand and support what is right instead of following in the predators evil ways. There is also another case, even many doctors support abortion in this situation. If a baby is supposed to be born with a mental defect some doctors offer abortion as an option. This breaks my heart because the baby cannot help that they have a defect. Why should you just not give them a chance at life? Just because a human being suffers from autism or some form of a mental defect does not mean that they cannot experience happiness. I have seen a person with autism experience laughter and happiness. So why should someone make that decision for that baby that they should just die instead of experiencing life and dealing with their difficulties. And that is why I am firmly against abortion. Everyone should get the chance to experience this wonderful chance at life.
