Chapters 1-10 Acceleration

The first 10 chapters of Acceleration basically tell us about Duncan and how he has come to be what he is now as well as who he hangs out with and where. Duncan is a 17 year old teen who lives in modern toronto he has a crappy summer job sifting through lost items found underground in the toronto subway system. Before duncan tells us too much about what goes on currently in his life he tells his story about something that happened six months earlyer at a beach. Duncan heard a girl screaming in the water but carried on swimming thinking it was just a playful scream coming from a little girl but what he didn't know was she was drowning. Duncan realised that he was the closest to her and that the people on the beach had no chance in getting there in time so he swam over to save her but couldn't find her in the merky water and was tramatized for life. After Duncan finished describing what has happened he continues about the present talking more about the subway job or as he called it "the Tomb". He tells about the grumpy old man he works with named jacob and also about all of the stuff he finds in the lost and found like a leather jacket he was planning on takeing once it had expired its time there. Duncan had come to read almost every book of intrest that came in and out of the lost and found but one day he saw one he hadnt read. It was a leather book with no name or author he began to read it and realised it was some physcos diary of plots too kill people along with storys of animal abuse and arson.
