Accounting Job Options and Salaries
Accounting offers many job opportunities that are key to the proper function of the world economy. These jobs are involved in the government, private businesses, and directly with the general public. The following are jobs available in the accounting field:
Audit - The people who work in this field check accounting ledgers and financial statements in corporations or in government. Due to the recent boom in the technological field, accounting has become more and more computerized. The work involved has been significantly decreased due to computerization.
Managerial Accounting - The professionals in this field mainly work in the private sector. Their work involves cost analysis, new contract analysis, and controlling expenses.
Financial - These professionals work in developing financial statements for mergers and acquisitions, benefits planning, and long term projections. This job involves a lot of variety.
Budget Analysis - The businessmen in this field work with financial plans. They are involved in making and managing the financial plans for private and public companies.
Tax Accounting - The professionals in this field prepare taxes. These include private, personal, and public tax statements. They are required to know all the new and old tax laws and must be able to manipulate these laws. These businessmen formulate strategies for better deferral of tax money.
There are many places that offer positions for these accounting jobs. They can be classified into four categories:
1. Public Accounting Firms - These businesses provide services for the regular public, private businesses, and the government. This is a major part of the accounting job options.
2. Government - These job options are at available at all levels of the government. The department of defense, the general accounting office, and the Internal Revenue Service are the ones that hire most of these accounting positions.
3. Corporations - Jobs offered here are typically for financial statements, cost analysis, and auditing managers. There are not many jobs that are available in this category.
4. Alone - CPAs work by themselves and provide services directly to the public and private sectors. This is probably the highest number of accounting professionals.
