This observation takes place on the sidewalk, where two dads bring their children to wait for the school bus. T he first man I observe is in his forties. He is more mesomorph, but has lean and firm muscle tissue. He weights approximately 170 pounds and is 5 feet 9 inches. He has dark skin complexion and has no appearance of age spots. His hair is black, short, and somewhat curly. He wears glasses and has no hearing aids or medical devices. There is no apparent medical conditions or physical impairments. He looks really active and energetic.
This man was engaged into a conversation with the other man after the school bus left. He did not pay attention to cars or people that were passing by. He was focused either by looking right on the other man face or on the ground. He did not talk too much, but mostly listened using nonverbal minimal encouragers (Wood & Schweitzer, 2010). From time to time, he would smile or make a head motion. Other time during their conversation, he would just stared at him to express interest in hearing more. I had no idea what they were talking about, however, I was able to follow through their verbal and nonverbal behaviors.
On a cognitive perspective, the man was really following what man B was trying to tell. He was not distracted by the noise around him, neither he interrupted him as he talked. When he had to give feedback, he responded in short sentences but was really into the conversation.
