Al Qaeda
One of the biggest known terrorist groups today is Al Qaeda, which was founded by Osama bin Laden. It is known as a proliferation international terrorist network that is affiliated with many countries such as Afghanistan and Pakistan. The United States of America and Al Qaeda are known as arch enemies for numerous reasons. Al-Qaeda and its beliefs were well-known on a background of the failure of social democracy and socialism in the face of many culture and capitalism and increasing Islamic influence. [1]Al-Qaeda’s organization was believed to be influenced mainly by the extreme ideologies of the Salafi stream of Islam.
Al Qaeda goals are to spread Islam throughout the world. One of the main leaders is Osama bin Laden. Al Qaeda is responsible for numerous attacks which have occurred around the world such as the 1988 United States embassy bombing in Africa. Two of Africa’s cities were taken out killing and hurting over 4,000 people. In Egypt they’ve killed travelers because no one believed in practicing the Al Qaeda religion. Also in the organization beheading is really a huge thing they have beheaded a number of members including American soldiers. In New York Times article, “Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Islam beheading someone for not liking them and being of a different race became a huge problem.
Osama bin Laden [2]who was born on March 10, 1957. Osama means “Young Lion” in Arabic. Laden was one of the head leaders of the worst organization in world. Osama bin Laden is known for terrorizing cities and countries including the United States. In several different countries he has been on the top of the most wanted list. His plan was to seek out against Western cities. Osama’s plan was to drive America out of Muslim lands. On May 2, 2011 Osama bin Laden was shot down and killed by the Navy Seal in Abbottabad, Pakistan.[3][4]
On September 11, 2001, on a wonderful Tuesday morning, it became the worst day in American history. The Al Qaeda organization attacked New York City, killing over 4,000 innocent people. The graph down below shows the percentage of people in New York that thinks it became better, the same, or worse since the attack. The red on chart shows the percentage of people in the city that feel that New York has become better. The blue line which is at the bottom and has the lower percent shows many New Yorkers feel that they city is doing better the percent is very low. Lastly, the green line is the percent of people who feel that the city has not fully recovered from the event caused by Al Qaeda. As a result of those acts of violence, President Bush declared his own type of jihad against all enemies with special word to Osama bin Laden. A few months later, the United States began to crush the organizations in Afghanistan while trying to get Osama bin Laden groups after his death. Al Qaeda will forever be a part of America’s history after this event, because innocent people’s family died during this time. [pic 2]
Al Qaeda is known as a well financially stabled organization. Al Qaeda organization has to have money. They get money through supporters such as people who like what they are doing to and want to be a part of the organization. As Maranda Bruno, who is an investigator says “the bomb in 2005 London Attack” known as (7/7). Al Qaeda killed over sixty five people. It was a great deal and very traumatizing for the people in London. Al Qaeda’s group gets money by kidnapping. They kidnap tourist and anyone throughout Egypt. In Bruno’s article “Al Qaeda inside Finances”, she says that they keep people for hostage in order to get money for weapons and bombs. Families have gone missing, killing innocent kids and beheading people are ways that they get money. To add on, Al Qaeda has people throughout the world sending money to their organization. The money is used for new weapons, bombs and plans of attack.[pic 3]
While doing research on Al Qaeda, it shows that in 2013, organization attacked the Ministry in Yemen. They were mad about recent US drone strikes; they felt that just taking their anger out on the Yemeni government[5]. But the commander were said to have strict orders to avoid the nearby hospital. But, being that they are so evil one still murdered 52 patients and staff members. The graph below shows how many deaths have occurred since the wars from 2009-2012. In 2012 the number of murders reported rose up to almost two hundred people. Even though it was really low in 2009 the civilian rates were the highest. Al Qaeda is also known for killing many people in different countries outside of the graph above. They have numerous things that they have bombed including houses, cars, and buses. This shows that even though Al Qaeda waited until 2013 to start the war he was already having numerous undercover attacks on the Yemen’s.
