Alcoholism
Alcoholism is a big problem in the world today. People are suffering from this world problem. Twenty-five percent of all kids middle school, have been under the influence. From this, many underage become addicted to alcohol, which leads to the problem known as alcoholism. In helping the community I assisted in giving out flyers to all MADD( Mothers Against Drunk Driving) recipients, for an auction to help solve alcoholism.
Almost every person in America, has a friend or family member who is is an alcoholic. This is definitely not a good thing. Many people start to drink at a young age. This is often leads to have a custom for them to drink alcohol all the time. As these children get older, they feel a need to have alcohol whenever they can, therefore they become alcoholics. An average person watches 20,000 commercials a year, 2,000 of which are supporting alcohol. Children are always watching television. This might explain why many people choose to drink alcohol.
In my community service, I would send out many different letters to all of the MADD recipients and ask for donations to support putting a stop to alcoholism. I did anything that was within my power to help the community in this area. I also learned many different ways to deal with people as I would encounter them. This experience was not only helping the community, but also helping me become a better person.
It was great to have the feeling that you did something to help your community. It helps yourself also by developing people skills which every one will need for some point later on in life.
