The relationship between a mother and a son can change over time. As Marly

Callaghan in the story “All the years of her life” portrays how Alfred matures and regrets his actions.

The story takes place in the drug store and at Alfred’s home. Alfred is a young man that often gets in trouble. He has two brothers and a sister who are married and left home while he still lives with his parents. He has been working at the drug store for six moths. He is immature and has a hard time holding a job. Alfred’s mother is a caring woman who wants all the best for her son. She always comes to help Alfred and protect. Sam Carr is a little grey haired man that owns the drug store. The is intelligent man, who can’t be fooled and has noticed that Alfred is stealing from the drug store. He is patient and does not call the police before he mets his mother .

The relationship between the mother and the son before the incident is not the best. His mother is protective and concerned while Alfred is immature and inconsiderate. After the incident when Alfred saw his mother’s look on her face he realised that he was wrong. After watching his mother sitting alone in the kitchen alone and upset. At that moment he realised that he didn’t understood his mother
