Amelie
Title of film: Amelie
Genre: Foreign Films/ Drama/ Comedy
Director: Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Year: 2001
Actors in principal roles: AmÐ"©lie Poulain (Audrey Tautou), Mathieu Kassovitz (Nino Quincampoix), Claire Maurier (Suzanne)
Amelie Poulain (Audrey Tautou), is a young woman, quite and shy she goes around hoping to pass un-noticed, yet she pay attention to all that goes on around her. A wide-eyed girl she looks at the world in a magical light, and from the beginning you find yourself submerged in her magical world. Amelie was the daughter of two very eccentric couple, when she was a little girl her dad diagnosed her with a “heart” problem, which resulted in her being brought up with very little exposure to the outside world. When she is old enough she packs her bags and decides to explore and discover the world outside the walls of her house. Amelie takes a job at a restaurant, from then on she changes the lives of everyone she meets and ultimately her own.
The acting in this film is exceptional, each character is unique and the way in which they are presented is so different and refreshing, the director has this incredible ability to explore the most profound feelings of the human being without recurring to the boring philosophies used in other films. The actors, I think, fit perfectly in each of their roles, I could not have imagined them to be any different.
This film is unique and fascinating; it is a feel-good movie, rich in color, plot, characters and theme. Aesthetically this is a gorgeous film, Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s films trap you in a very subtle way and you dive into the films atmosphere, plot , characters and even when the film is over you find your mind and thoughts are still in the same magical state as the films.
I would definitely recommend this movie. I rate it, on a scale of 1 to 10, probably a 12, what can I say its my favorite movie!
