Organizational Profile (Part 1)

ETH/316

I have chosen to evaluate the American Civil Liberties Union and its involvement and responsibility to the community. The American Civil Liberties Union known as the ACLU has several divisions throughout the states. One of which is based right here in Ohio. The factors that influence the social responsibility strategies within the ACLU are the mistreating of people, the injustice that occurs quite frequently in our society, the disadvantaged or poverty stricken individuals who do not know their rights have been violated. The ACLU is the voice of the people they speak for the immigrants, juvenile, disabled, LGBT, police practices, religious, women, etc., ("Aclu Of Ohio", 2014). This organization strives on the civil rights of all people no matter the race, religion, gender, marital status or any other factor that may be relevant at the time. This organization is a nonbiased organization that exhibits a duty to help the community. The ACLU goes all over the state educating people on their rights, what is going on with them, how they are changing, and how powerful each individual voice is when trying to make a different.

This organization is a non-profit, so the community can go to it for advice and assistance free of charge.

The potential ethical and moral effect from the ACLU's social initiative is the thought process of the community. They have already achieved many awards for all of their hard work in the community like the Impact Award and the Social Justice Member of the Year Award. The great thing about the ACLU is that it is a positive and trustworthy source to learn countless amounts of knowledge. The power is in the knowing and in this world today what you do not know can ultimately harm you. In essence, if people knew better they would do better and the ACLU wants to offer their help by educating the community thus, making it a better place to live for the present and the
