The American Farmer

In a world with millions of identity groups the American farmer stands out from many. He is a person with standards to keep vegetables, beef, and other necessary goods clean and fresh for our consumption. He is a hard worker, taking eighteen hour days to ensure the necessary work is completed. He has a passion for the land that gives him the power to plant and grow the things we most need. The American farmer is the back bone to this great country.

Not many people care as to where the vegetables in Food Lion came from, they just want them fresh and with out defect (bugs, bruises, rotten). Farmers take pride in supplying these fresh vegetables. Yet some years turn out a total loss and only a portion of his crop meet his standards, he as a farmer takes a loss to keep grocery store produce looking clean. Many farmers buy young unhealthy cows to feed and nurse to a healthy weight in order for them to be processed in to the most eaten meat in the United States. American farmers care about people and take losses in order to keep high quality goods in our freezers and pantries.

The work is never finished in the farming profession. There is always a fence down or trouble with a new born calf. Even if these hinder the farmer right before and important outing the work must be done. Farmers take risk in order to get the work done and are often injured due to heavy machines. Farmers enjoy a hard day's work and look forward to the yield of his crop as that is what his hard work reflects. Working eighteen hours a day, sometimes weeks at a time can be mentally challenging and put stress on them many people couldn't handle. Farmers are some of the hardest working people in the world.

Land has so much to offer us yet some people view it as only lots for houses or sites for shopping malls. Farmers see the land as beautiful fertile and productive. Farmers keep soil quality at peek growing levels and use conservative methods of keeping the soil in balance. Certain plants use and replace different nutrients in to the soil crop rotation is planned to better the yield of plants. This rotation can be difficult and take many tests to ensure the best rotations, yet farmers take this extra step to ensure the land is kept fertile and productive. Farmers enjoy there land and take care of it to ensure a better future for our environment.
