American Flag is Significant to me
The American flag has always been important to me. I feel inspired and patriotic every time I see a car's back bumper sticker featuring an American flag stating, "Freedom Isn't Free!" Ultimately the American flag is close to me for many reasons. My husband is in the army. I buy a lot of object in the shape of the American Flag. My significant object is a flag keychain given to me by my Grandfather Knight.
I remember the day very clean. I was ten years old and it was the Fourth of July, 1980. We were at the Coosa River Front. I was sitting by my grandfather Knight and he was talking about the wars he had been in: World War I, World War II and the Korea War.
Ultimately it was his good luck charm. I realize after the stories he told me why the American flag is so important. That it was an honor to die for our American flag of the United States of American. Mentality I had never really thought about it that way before.
The flag required sacrifice and its continuation demands perseverance. I struggle and sacrifices about the perseverance are the vital characteristics of freedom, democracy and independence. I get upset when I am unpacking and can't find my lucky key chain. It helps me understand why I am proud to be a American. I think about how far we have come to have our god given rights.
The flag it is the symbol of our nation, the symbol of our freedom, the symbol of those that have gone before us to defend our liberties, and most importantly the symbol which at one point or another each person has pledged their allegiance to. There has been many different flags. When we had all 50 states is the last time the flag changed in 1969. This holds true for the key chains. My key chain only has 46 stars on it. I understand the honor the American flag has.
The flag means a lot to me. I know that many Americans have died protecting our flag. Many people have died raising our flag also. I remember my grandfather explaining that statue with the soldiers raising the flag to me. He told me how these soldiers would sacrifice themselves just to raise a piece of cloth
Now that I'm older, I feel that I would do the same. I also realize that this is much more than just a piece of cloth, It is a flag; The American flag. It stands for liberty, justice, freedom, and so much more.
