American Popular Culture Journal

Most of the items in my list are applicable not only to my everyday life, but the average working American. I will also discuss how the values of Popular culture and how they have an impact on my decision making abilities. Popular culture is identified as contemporary behaviors of and things that are popular, and generally deemed as acceptable, sometimes due to its popularity.

From my inventory, music on my iPod, listening to Pandora's Box, and heavy usage of my Blackberry, are all indicative of my life being "on the go". I am always very busy and it is rare that I have a moment to actually sit still and enjoy some of the normal activities that I used to ten years ago. While an iPod is certainly an amenity and not a necessity, I find solace in being able to use it in the midst of my hectic schedule. When I am running errands for my personal or professional life, I manage to steal a few minutes from myself by using my iPod to find peace, gather my thoughts, and listen to some of my favorite music. The other items on my list which are high definition televisions, DVD's, and listening to Pandora 's Box are indicative of work and leisure time because most of the time, I enjoy these three activities at home, however, I am still working! In addition to enjoying a great movie, game or awards show, subconsciously I am also scouting for potential clients that may need PR.

All of the items, Blackberries and iPods' are more common because they encompass media, communication, and entertainment; all three of these components have a major impact on American Pop Culture. These are also items that are used by the masses. In my opinion, the values that are being communicated from my list of items are convenience and pleasure. I consider my items to be convenient because they can be taken anywhere and my Blackberry ensures that I am easily accessible in the event that someone needs to get in touch with me through phone, text messaging, voice mail or email. At the start of my long days, I make sure before leaving the house that I have my Blackberry and my iPod. While neither is considered a necessity, because I use them so frequently, my day is bound to be a bad one if either of them is left at home.

The value that I feel Jamba Juice, Pinkberry, organic smoothies, and sushi communicates is health. Jamba Juice is one of my favorite places
