Another Colorado Shooting?

On Wednesday September 27 in Bailey, Colorado a man by the name of Duane Morrison came into a Bailey Colorado high school with two guns and a supposed bomb in his backpack. He went into a classroom and handpicked 6 different girls, and told the rest of the class to leave. He let four of the girls go, but made two girls stay. Two hours late the gunman made contact with the swat team and told them to go away, and that something was going to happen at 4 o'clock. A half an hour before four the swat team blew a hole through the wall to try to get a better shot of him. But when the swat team blew the door of the hinges Duane fired away. On of the girls Emily Keyes tried to run away and the other girl was pulled safely to the side. As Emily was running Duane shot her in the back of the head and then killed himself. Duane died on the scene but Emily was airlifted to a hospital in Denver and died on Thursday.

This relates to many different institutions the community, the school, and the families. Bailey is a very small community of about 3,500. So an event like this makes the community seem a lot less smaller then you would expect. This definitely affects the school as to how he even got in, in the first place. He is 53 years old no matter what he wears he doesn't look like a student. They obviously need to rethink the safeness of the school. Most of all the families of the kids taken hostage and especially Emily Keyes family.

I thought the article was written well it explained what happened very well. It sympathized with the victims and the families. It also showed how a whole community came come together and support each other on this loss. Overall it was a well written article.
