I always anticipated my name being called on the first day of school, but on most occasions I already knew what would happen. Why I expected things to be different was beyond me when I was young, now I don't care much about it. My parents had given me 2 first names and on the first day of school my teachers would either ask me which I preferred or skip the hassle and use the very first name they see. John Michael was the name given to me by my parents, to my friends or anyone who meets me in school, I'm John. To my family and those I meet outside of school I'm Michael. I'd never given it much thought which I preferred but when I took it into consideration I decided I liked Michael better.
John and Michael are not unusual names independently, but when put together produces what I call my first names. When I asked about the subject, my mom had a vague but interesting description to enlighten me, an explanation that left me confused but was enough for her. When my older brother was born, my parents decided to name him after a saint. In addition to that, they also wanted to give him 2 first names, which is a popular thing to do in the Philippines. When I was born, my parents wanted to continue those two coming of tradition factors, which resulted in my name. They kept that tradition one more time for my little brother. When we arrived here in the U.S. every one called us by the same name, John. They weren't wrong, our names, from eldest to youngest, was John Richard, John Michael, and John Christian. Which is why my parents decided that their 4th and last child would simply be named Brandon. This John confusion is why I prefer my second name, Michael.
The name Michael is closely connected to the Bible. It is actually where the name originated. The meaning of the name is "who is like God?," a literal and maybe figurative question. Michael is the Archangel in the Bible, an Archangel is the chief of angels. He is considered to be the patron saint to soldiers by Roman Catholics. It is most likely for that reason his name gained popularity among certain groups, and is also what resulted in its many different variations. These included some of the old Byzantine Emperors who had their own style of Michael. But, this Biblical name is quite a great contrast to my personality.
Relaxation is something most try to do but no longer have the time of day to find. This reason is exactly why it exhibits my outlook on my life. I create time for something most people don't have time for. I also like to provide this uplifting feeling to others when I am given the opportunity. Relaxation is not just about letting go of something or forgetting it its having that feeling of complete serenity. Knowing that nothing that the worries of the world is non-existent for a brief moment of life brings me great joy. That happiness is greatly linked to the state of being relaxed, meaning its different for each person and, in respect to each person, could be anything. I try to live with a great abundance of this rare feeling to influence
