Art

For this term of Painting, I would like to use the available time to create several series of paintings. These series will be experimentations in color, form, and texture. My goal is to approach the subject of "art" as a variety of expressions, some color and form, others abstract and arbitrary. In this way, I hope to learn what techniques and styles work best for me.
The first two series are titled "Blue Series" and "Pink Series".
As the names suggest, these two series will be an examination of gradations of color, what effects you can achieve by applying different layers of paint on the canvas, and of the adding of different colors affects the original color.
The third series will be a set of separate images related to a stereo. In this series, I would like to utilize the space created between canvases, and the different ways to accentuate that space. The paintings will be close-up images that will be arrainged together to create the final object. I would like to show how the spatial relationship between certain objects can create the illusion of actual images in negative space.
Two other series I would like to work on this semester are a series questioning the viewer in various ways about what they consider art and what qualifies as a "painting". Another series would be a mixed media creation of the interaction between photos and paint, and how these two medias can be represented. Yet another would be a series of interactive art, depending on the participation of other people to create the final work. Still, there is a lot of work to be done before these, so we'll see what time allows.
Basically, I would like to show up and paint. If things go well, and these series don't take long to create, I guess we can talk about where to go next. So, there is my proposal. Hopefully, this is what you wanted.
