Level: Grade 11 STEM – B

Year: 2017

The purpose of this study is to identify the assumption of Rizal High School teachers on the modern school system, which is the K-12 school system, to assess how K-12 education is implemented within the school premises, how teachers are prepared for the teaching loads and lessons, and how students induce learning under K-12. This study exposes the common benefits and disadvantages of K-12 and how its effectiveness is maximized.

The study used a quantitative approach, where the data was collected through questionnaire forms. These questionnaires were distributed to teachers, who served as our respondents, from Grades 7-11. The research is only conducted within the premises of the school, virtually making a free cost in conducting the survey. The questionnaires distributed were 63, and 51 were answered and returned. The response rate totaled 81%.

The researchers also interviewed teachers in different spots in the school. The teachers who answered were supportive and answered the queries full-mindedly. Their responses were great which provided a lot of information.

The research, overall, found an interesting point in the teachers’ knowledge about the K-12 curriculum, where teachers in all levels were surveyed, and showed a general pattern where K-12 is a great curriculum that is implemented but in its first time of implementation, there are lacks of resources, time, and trainings that will be needed to fulfill the goal of the new curriculum. Rizal High School is adapting to the new school system, and the upcoming opportunities are big for the students. Rizal High School is undergoing changes that will make future K-12 students be more skillful than the current K-12 generation, in which, the government is helping to achieve the best it can to provide the needs of its school.

The researchers recommend that Rizal High School should undergo more changes in terms of teaching, school facilities and utilities, buildings, and rules to adapt to the new curriculum for future generations to be more satisfied, more skillful, and more knowledgeable with the school system they are undertaking.
