1.0   Introduction

In Bangladesh, facilities towards higher education are not good enough as seats in public and private educational institutes are limited. As a result, students face hurdles in the admission test of these universities. In such situations, coaching center is being popular among the undergraduate and graduate students for the wise assistance towards the preparation of higher studies as well as for career development.

Although coaching centers are playing an important role in developing the skills of students by providing supplementary education, several aspects about these coaching centers are still indistinct towards a large number of citizens of Bangladesh. Therefore students as well as their parents become perplexed in order to select a perfect coaching center according to aspire of the students. This is essential for them to know about the coaching centers before taking the decision of admitting there.

In this report, the present state of coaching centers in Dhaka for university admission will be depicted. By proper assessment, the procedure to identify a suitable coaching center will be stated. Few prominent coaching centers, their offered courses and the service delivery schemes will be represented to recognize the distinctiveness of the coaching centers. Organizational review and marketing strategy will be stated to understand the roles of coaching centers and how they influence their prospective clients. Financial situation of these coaching will be shown to give clear idea about their revenue, cost and profit. Data analysis of a small survey will be provided which will be done by personal observation and questionnaire to support the purpose of this report. Finally, recommendations will be made upon few findings of this analytical report.

2.0   Proper assessment on university coaching centers

Each year thousands of students are being done with their higher secondary education in our country. After that, in order to get admitted to a desired university often students join a coaching center without knowing much about them. It has been observed that enrolling into a coaching center without proper assessment has rarely been proven as a right decision as many students cannot achieve their desired goal. Same thing happens to those who join a coaching center for a better career opportunity. Therefore, the first and foremost thing to be done before getting admitted in a coaching center is, to do a proper assessment on coaching centers. After that they might select a coaching center according to own necessity.

3.0   Prominent Coaching Centers for University Admission in Dhaka

A large number of education and career coaching centers are currently proceeding inside the capital city, Dhaka. Four coaching centers which provide assistance to the preparation of higher studies at universities in Bangladesh and in abroad are depicted below:

3.1   UCC

UCC was established in 1986 with the aim to provide education towards student for purpose of admitting several public universities easily. They have around 107 branches throughout the country. The head-office is located at green road of framgate. Other branches are situated at Mirpur 1, Mirpur 10, Nilkhet, Jatrabari, Mouchak, Banani, Old Town, Uttara, Savar, Gazipur, Narayanganj. The number of student’s enrollment per session in this coaching about 15,000 approximately in whole Dhaka city.

3.2   Uniaid

Uniaid was founded in 2001 with the aim to provide assistance to the students for purpose of admitting several public universities. Uniaid has around 60 branches throughout the country and 12 in Dhaka. The head-office is located at green road, and other branches are situated at Badda, Malibagh, Mouchak, Scincelab, Mirpur 1, Mirpur 10, Nilkhet, Jatrabari, Banani, Old Town, Uttara, Savar, Tangail, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Tongi. At the time of university admission approximately 11,000 students per session got admitted in this coaching.

3.3   Mentors

Mentors was founded in 1996 and is the most reputed educational institution and admission consulting house dedicated to prepare students in their admissions, standardized tests and academic studies. It is a student-focused institution that offers a vibrant and inspirational learning environment. Mentors have total 10 branches in Bangladesh. The head office is in Kalabagan and other branches situated in Dhaka are in Banani, Mouchak and Uttara. Approximately 6,000 students per session got admitted into this coaching for university admission.

3.4   Saifur’s

Saifur’s was founded in 2002 with the aim to provide education and career support towards the undergraduates and graduates. They offer supplementary courses as preparation for several standardized tests along with the preparation support for university admission test, BCS examinations, banking job and such else. They have 73 branches throughout the country even in Dhaka city they have 17 branches. The head-office is located at Panthapath. Other branches are situated at Farmgate, Nilkhet, Jatrabari, Lalmatia, Mouchak, Banani, Old Town, Middle Badda, Uttara. At the time of university admission, students admitted in Saifur’s about 7000 approximately in whole Dhaka city.

4.0   Offered Courses, Tuition Fees and Duration

Individual educational and career coaching centers have their own policy of tuition fees and the duration for the courses they offer. Tuition fees are generally dependent on the courses, course materials, teachers and course durations. Offered courses along with the tuition fees and duration of these four coaching centers are stated below:
