TOPIC: Due to terrorist attacks in different parts of the world, some people have become extremely suspicious of people of the Islamic faith who are branded as terrorists and fanatics.
The thinking specified above is learned behavior. This is what and how prejudice toward some people come into action. Prejudice is learned attitude toward a target object, involving negative feelings or negative beliefs. I chose this topic because this type of prejudice goes beyond a person's color and concentrate on ethnicity and culture. The 911 event cast a negative net over the people of Islamic faith. Some were arrested and held for questioning as well as linked with terrorist groups or organizations. What cause this type of prejudice or discrimination? I believe it is fear, stereotyping, and a misunderstanding of the Islamic teachings. When combined, fear and wonder is a lethal combination. I believe social conformity play a vital role in these situations. We know that the Bible teaches us to love our enemies but negative norms of society are that we hate and kill our enemies. Education plays a large role in adjusting our attitude to be positive toward people of all sorts. The more we learn and interact with different ethnic and cultural groups, the better the changes will be for us to understand them and respond in a positive manner of acceptance.
