Being Adopted
It's tough to grow up without your real parents at a young age.I have always wanted to be apart of a perfect family.Visiting amusement parks, late night movies, card and board games were special moments I dreamed of enjoying with my family.Unfortunately, not everyone is fortunate to have their parents around them.I personally fall in this category and I believe no child should be raise without their parents.
It was the last Friday in July 2003.I was six years old,My cousin and I were playing a game of chase throughout the house. As we were running, my parents told me to come and sit down in their room. They had to tell me something. So, I went wondering what was going on.I was about to get the biggest news of my life.My life was going to change that very moment. Both my parents were leaving to search for a better life in another country.
The day came when they had to leave. It was the saddest moment I ever experienced.Watching tears rolled down my mother’s face as they waved with a big smile on their face as they tried to tell me everything was okay. The only family members I knew of were my mother’s family , her mother , dad and sister.Even though they lived a few houses away from us she thought it was best for me to live with her best-friends , my god-parents , “Aunty Nancy” and “Uncle Bolo”.
My new family seemed some what perfect. “Aunty Nancy” and “Uncle Bolo” were married for nearly twelve years. They had two daughters, Paula-Kay and Jamie. Paula-Kay was the shy and quiet one while Jamie was fun and outgoing. Our home was not that large, Three Bedrooms , A Kitchen , and one bathroom. Jamie and I shared the middle room. We would get in numerous fights.Jamie and I hated waking up early, however we both tried to beat each other out of the bed we shared because none of us wanted to make it back.Jamie was favoured by Uncle Bolo, every time I beat her out the bed she would make some excuse and I would end up doing the job.
Graduating from school was important for many different reasons.Aunty Nancy and Uncle Bolo did not get the opportunity to finish school. They would constantly preach about the importance of school and to take yield.I would never miss a day from school unless I was really ill, not even rain would change their minds.
Preparatory school was the only time I excelled in class.I always tried my best giving 110% each day. Each year I was awarded for being amongst the top performing students in the class.I was destined for greatness. In 2009,I took the G.S.A.T examinations.I was placed at one of the most prestigious high school in the country.Later that year,I started my first term in high school.
The first day of high school was the most difficult. The transition from being the most feared, to being the newbies of the school.Everyone was fill with thrill and fear.Anxiously waiting to know my class I could only recognise one person,Alan.Alan was one of my best friends, we went to the same prep school.Coincidentally, both of us were placed in the same class.Alan was very intelligent. He would never fail to study. We would never give the teacher any talking. Whenever we had examination we stood out in the class.
