In the passage from Benjamin Franklin, "Remarks Concerning the Savages of North America," a sense of kindness and a feeling of childishness is proven through the use of creative diction and examples. This passage gives the reader a great example that sometimes what people tell you is not the truth.

A sense of kindness is illustrated when the "Indian orator stood to thank" the Swedish minister about the story of "the fall of their first parents by eating an apple." The Swedish minister was kind enough to talk to the Indians and "acquainted them with the principle historical facts on which their religion was founded." In return, the Indian orator was thankful and "told some of the stories he had heard." People appreciate when people do good deeds for others and are thankful for them. Showing a sense of compassionateness, they return the favor and are appreciate of it.

On the contrary, some times it does not happen the way as planned. In the story from the Indian orator, childishness is illustrated with the beautiful young woman. A couple of the young Indian hunters were hunting and saw a beautiful young woman. Showing their kindness, they offered her some deer. They ate together and in return she told them to "go to a place which will be of great benefit in nourishing them and their children to the latest generations." Hoping to find a great surprise, they found maize, kidney beans, and tobacco, nothing to benefit them. She acted like a child and lied to them. You can not believe everyone, there are some nasty people in this world who only think of them selves. "What I delivered to you were sacred truths; but what you tell me is mere fable, fiction, and falsehood."

You can not believe every one you meet. Looks can be deceiving and you should get to know someone before you can trust them. If someone does a good deed for you, the correct way to repay the favor is to do the same for them.
