BEOWULF ESSAY
This essay is the comparison between Beowulf and the modern day hero, which I thought that any soldier would be my modern day hero. In this essay I will explain in three paragraphs of how my modern day hero is like Beowulf. With in these three paragraphs I will go over how they are both fighting for a good cause, how they are both rewarded for what they do, and how they are both treated with much respect.
The first comparison is how they are both fighting for a good cause, and I mean that they are trying to protect people, and doing the right thing. In the epic story Beowulf is fighting to destroy the monster that is eating all of Hrothgars men in the mead hall. Beowulf defeats the monster and seeks all other monsters that try to promote evil and do evil things. The soldiers do the same as they try to defeat the enemy, promote goodness, and stop the suffering of other people that do or do not deserver having the suffering that they are receiving. The soldiers also are trying to promote peace which I think that war is our modern day monster that we are trying to avoid.
The second comparison is how they are both get rewarded for doing the right thing. After Beowulf destroys the monster he gets a boat load of treasure to bring back to his people. The soldiers get rewards for helping out like a lot of money for joining, they get their college education paid for, and they get better jobs later on in their life.
The third comparison is how the both get treated with a great deal of respect. Beowulf gets respected through out the lands of his time, and by his men whom are scare with out the help and support of Beowulf. The soldiers get treated with up most respect by people not just of our country, but people for across the world that they have helped out in hard times in their country.
This is the essay by which I have compared Beowulf and my modern day hero the soldier. Now I have explain why and how I think that the soldiers of the U.S. are like Beowulf, and I think that if it was the soldiers of the U.S. in that time in age that their would be an epic story about them.
