In a documented research essay, you will explore one such unsolved dilemma from history, science, nature, art, literature, or any other field. You will scan the Internet for SCHOLARLY pro and con articles on your subject. For example, many scientists have studied the crop circle phenomenon and have provided concrete evidence regarding how wind and weather have produced them. Skeptics, however, say that they can show how the designs were made by hoaxters.
WARNING: Because of the "strange nature" of this topic, you might log on to some web sites created by some equally "strange people" with no credentials, degree, education, or experience to back up their claims. Evaluate the accuracy and relevancy of each web site that you visit!
You will need to collect 3 sources, document from these internally, and then list them on a Bibliography/Works Cited page. The breakdown of your writing will be as follows:
PARAGRAPHS 1-2 = introduction with an attention grabber, something to catch the reader's attention such as a quote, story, startling statistic
PARAGRAPHS 3-4 = summarize one possible explanation for the phenomenon, include internal documentation (direct quote or paraphrase)
PARAGRAPHS 5-6 = summarize a second possible explanation for the phenomenon, include internal documentation (direct quote or paraphrase)
PARAGRAPHS 7-8 = give your own opinion on the matter, include internal documentation (direct quote or paraphrase)
PARAGRAPHS 9-10 = conclusion
REMEMBER: For assistance on how to document internally, view the PowerPoint that accompanies this project or email me with questions. The main goal for this assignment is learning how to properly document inside a paper and list sources in bibliography form!
