I wasn't really much of a dare devil growing up but I did have one moment where I decided to test gravity. It was one of the most exciting, yet painful days of my life. In most neighborhoods there is one particular spot where all the kids in the area hang out. When I was growing up the place to be was "the Big Hill". Justly named that because it was a gigantic hill down the street from my house. It was a very steep hill going nearly 50 yards down where it flattened out into a flat plain like area. It was the perfect spot to play all day long. It was also the perfect spot for me to have one of my bravest and most foolish moments.

My friends and I would always ride our bikes to the top of the big hill and park them on a little gravel lot which was just perfect for our bicycles. Every time we reached the top we'd talk about much fun it would be to ride our bikes down the hill. We would go back and forth daring each other to go, no one ever having the nerve to actually try. So, most days we would take our grass stained plastic sleds and slide down the hill to play a few games of football or baseball with pinecones. Until one day I decided I was going to do it, I was going to ride my bike straight down that hill. I was going to defeat the big hill.

No one believed me when I said I was going to try to ride my bike down the hill. All of my friends just kind of smirked and played it off like it was a joke. But, I wasn't joking I was going to try. I was sick of the everyday routine of sledding, tackling, and trying to pull down pinecones. So, off I went to grab my bicycle. I slowly rolled it right to the edge. It seemed like I was staring off of an enormous cliff side. I was terrified but I had to do it. I couldn't back down or my friends wouldn't let me hear the end of it they would never take me seriously again. So, I refocused myself, took a deep breathe, kicked my feet onto the pedals and I was off, believe me I was off. The hill was very lumpy as I flyed down it completely out of control. I tried to throw on my brakes but this was a bad idea. My bike started to wobble and skid out of control. Until I hit the very last bump. It sent me straight off of my bike thudding onto the hard ground just to slide another twenty yards. When it was finally over it seemed as if my entire body paralyzed. I was completely scraped up; elbows, palms, knees, chin there wasn't a body part that didn't hurt.
