BRANDING
Branding is a trademark or distinctive name identifying a product or a manufacturer. For example, when we here the slogan "Just do it", we immediately associate the phrase with Nike, a popular sporting goods company, which is mostly affiliated with basketball, and mostly recognized for there sneakers. Many big time companies need to use branding, or otherwise it will be very hard to "stay afloat".
Branding in today's business world is almost a necessity, but branding can also work negatively on your company. You must market you business in a positive way, so that when customers see your slogan or your logo, they will think great things of your company instead of negative things. Managing your brand is also a very important aspect of branding. You cannot simply throw out a brand into the world and expect it to keep making money for your company, you must maintain it and update it, change with the culture and adjust to a culture. For example, what Americans may think to be a great and positive idea, European countries may look down on the same idea. If a company maintains its brand the correct way, then in due time customers will be buying your product because it is associated with a particular brand.
In branding you must also be able to respond quickly to marketing opportunity. This I would say is one of the more important factors of maintaining your brand, if you do not respond to opportunities, then other companies will quickly step in and a company can suffer severely.
Although marketing a brand isn't an easy thing to do, it is important, especially with all the different available resources a company can utilize to bring there product across to the people. Resources such as the internet, magazines and commercials are great way's for a company to market there product. As long as you stay up to date and continuously adjust to the world and it's people, branding will be a positive thing for your company.
