Bullet For My Valentine

South African sporting hero, Oscar Pistorius, testified to the shooting of his twenty nine year old girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, in his Pretoria home in the early hours of valentines morning. The double-amputee Olympian claimed that he heard noises and was under the impression that he was getting burgled by a trespasser, this he says is the sole reason for the shooting. The prosecution from the Pretoria Magistrates Court stated that Oscar shot multiples times through the bathroom door and had the complete intention of killing his girlfriend. Munusamy , Ranjeni. "Oscar Pistorius case: South African justice system is also on trial ." Gardian Africa Network. Guardian Africa Network guardian.co.uk, 25 02 2013. Web. 3 Mar 2013.

The verdict that I profess over the blade runner is life imprisonment.

Mr Pistorius' house is in one of the most secure estate facilities in South Africa, the probability of a burglar managing to get into this fortified double story house is highly unlikely. Neighbors also reported that they heard shouting from Pistorius' home on the night of the shooting, in a witness' words "non-stop talking, like shouting". Police officer Hilton Botha, who was first on the scene, reported the woman to have heard the noise from approximately 600 yards away. The tacky police work on the initial investigation regarding the altered distance,600 yards to 300 yards, of the witnesses hearing the commotion and the unidentified bullet shell in the toilet, single handedly benefitted Pistorius to the extent of being granted bail for $112,000.

Pistorius affirmed that when hearing the noise coming from the bathroom he did not have his prosthetic legs on, however when analyzing the trajectory of the bullets in the door it is recognizable that he did have his prosthetic legs on because the bullets were shot at a downward angle. The substantial evidence against him is undeniable. He informed the court that on hearing the noise he was on the veranda bringing the fan inside when he 'hobbled' back to get his .500 Magnum pistol from under the bed. In the investigation the gun holster was found underneath Steenkamp's side of the bed, so for him not to realize she was not in bed is impossible because he would have had to lift her up in order to retrieve his gun.
