Canadian Lifestyle Choices: A Public Health Failure
Daniel Rosenfield, et al.
Summary
The main idea of the article is Canadian health failure. The text starts explaining how healthy and fit was a typical Canadian and how unhealthy and fat they have became in the present. The author not only points the people who is no longer careful about their health, but also the government, who have not taken any strict action to help people be healthy.
Over the past few years, the government have become less careful about its population’s health. Therefore, many Public Health Care companies were organized to help decrease the unhealthiness among all Canadians. However, they were unsuccessful because government ignored to prove their plans. This explains that government do have plans to improve Canadian lifestyle but it is taking step back due to the financial consequences.
As government were seen unable to improve health activities, the disastrous personal food choices increased sharply among all Canadians. People started loving junk food even more without knowing how much salt, sodium or fatness it contains. Nowadays, people is no longer interested to know the nutritional values of the products they consume.
Looking from the worldwide point of view, every country has plans to improve public health care and they are successful, but Canada is seen as an exception. Both, Canadian government and people’s personal choices, are responsible for the lower improvement in the Canada’s overall health failure. In conclusion, Mr. Rosenfield suggest that government need to take immediate control on the unhealthy products consumed all over Canada. Also, people need to learn to do better choices on their daily use products having in mind the nutritional values.
