1. How did you get interested in this field and got this job?
Answer: I completed my MBA from York University. After my master I was invited in career workshop, after completion of seminar I came to know about the actual placement interview. There were many interviews taking place. So I gave couple of interviews. After few days I got the call from this company and I was selected for the departmental manager. So this way I involved in this job.
2. How are you using your knowledge and skills which you acquired from your masters?
Answer: gaining the theoretical knowledge and applying that knowledge practically is very difficult. Both the things are far much different. Sometimes it is very difficult to apply theoretical knowledge in practical world as situations differ. But yes, while preparing any report and analysis, I use the theoretical knowledge which I learned. And for meetings and other operations it is difficult to apply my knowledge due to type of the company. Yes, theoretical knowledge is very important as all the operations are based on it but their path may differ. So yes, I use the knowledge and skills I acquired when they are needed.
3. What can I do to make myself more prepared for this field when I graduate?
Answer: Gain as much knowledge as you can. It is very important to have knowledge and skills as the new trend are being followed. New trends such as changes due to technology, the age factors as such mostly now new fresher who are enthusiastic and efficient are demanded. Every company has different criteria to select a candidate. And it is very important to attend the career workshops which will help you increasing your network and you may get the job! You just score more and involved in activities which enhances your leadership skills and there you go, you are prepared for this field.
4. What advice do you have for college students who are considering your career field?
Answer: I would like to give an advice to college students that don't let your knowledge get wasted. The mantra to be in corporate world is "keep your eyes, ears and mind open." Take part in activities related to your field. Just the theoretical knowledge is not important. Try to invest your time in career related activities.
