While watching the video in Tuesday's class, I first though that Alex was being too much of a pushover and he was letting Melinda walk all over him with her excuses. By the second part of the tape I was then seeing that he had a little more of a tougher side and he was telling Melinda how it should be.
In my opinion, I do not think I would mind working for a boss like Alex because he seems to be a nice guy who doesn't overreact too much when a few problems arise. I thought he was understanding at first when Melinda told him that she would fix the problems with her low sales numbers her sales territory. I think he would be a good boss to work for because he has the ability to offer you another chance to fix something you may have done wrong. Alex seems to be an understanding person and will offer his help if you are in need of it.
On the other hand, I do not think I would want to have Melinda as an employee of my company. I realize that in the years that she has worked for me she has done extremely well as a single saleswoman and helped our company out a great deal. I do not think she has good listening skills and always interrupts when she is being told something she may have done wrong. I also think after she kept secret that she was pregnant was totally wrong. In not letting anyone know she has risked the company's success in not being able to do her job. After finding out that the father of her child was one of out biggest customers would lead me to lose an extreme amount of trust in her as a saleswoman.
