The OSHA has provided with many safety and health regulations for variety of manufacturing units, here is a basic check list that would be applied to manufacturing firms. Some points can be added/deducted based on the type of firm.

1. Are employees provided with personal protective equipment/tools (example: like helmet, gloves, jackets while working under higher temperatures)

2. Is employee trained with the safety and health programs

3. Are all work sites clean and clear?

4. Is work place provided with minimum basic requirements (like number bathrooms, minimum work breaks etc.)

5. Are heavy moving parts enclosed?

6. Is regular inspection is done on heavy moving parts?

7. OSHA rule of safety and health are displayed on appropriate places.

8. Are tools provided for workers are in good condition?

9. Are worn/bad tools repaired whenever required?

10. Tools/work place material stored safely for worker use?

11. All electrical cables closed and not left open?

12. Are guards provided for spinning, moving and wheel parts?

13. Pits or openings in the ground covered while not in use and cautioned

14. Are spilled oils/water/waste cleaned immediately?

15. Are bridges provided to cross the huge conveyors or similar equipment?

16. Are walk ways free from heavy suspended material/equipment?

17. Are Sharp equipment (like saw, grinders, compressors) guarded/secured?

18. Are electrical cables/connections kept secured from dust/chemicals/metals?

19. Workers who work on power tools are trained with the tools or not?

20. Regular inspection of heavy power tools

21. Check and replace the power tools whenever needed

22. Are emergency buttons/control buttons colored? And are employees trained with this?

23. Are pulleys/belts are secured?

24. Do not leave pulley/belts/other operating devices working after use.

25. Are all machines safe and do not cause damage while working?

26. Are workers provided with manuals of machines/power tools?

27. Are signs (like Flammable, No Smoking etc.) are placed everywhere inside plant?

28. Do we work on combustible gases/chemicals/other similar things?

29. Is there any spilling/leakage of hazardous waste?

30. Workers working on hazardous waste wear respective protective equipment?

31. Are valves/cylinders are sealed tight?

32. Are compressed fuels safely handled?

33. Are Flammable material placed near electrical equipment?

34. Are employees correctly trained with truck type equipment?
