Massachusetts Laws at Their Finest
Rape and child molestation sadly happens in our country everyday along with almost every other country in the world. Perpetrators can be anyone and usually are the last person that you would expect. Although rape in itself is horrible for any person or child who is assaulted, the state of Massachusetts basically feels that it isn't severe enough to inform everyone in the area of the presence of a known sex offender.
In the state of Massachusetts only a levelÐ'-three sex offenders are ordered to notify an area of their presence. The sad truth is that the police will only notify those that live within a one-block radius of the sexual predator's residence. So this means those of you that live a few blocks further away are left in the dark about the situation. Within walking distance to most young children in cities all over the state; some of the nastiest, most vile people lurk Ð'- unbeknownst to the parents and most importantly, the children.
Massachusetts should change its laws to accommodate those who are being hurt by the negligence of imperative information. Without the parent's knowledge a person's criminal record, they are unable to take preventative actions. Change needs to happen. One change should be that an entire neighborhood should be notified by mail. Another way to make sure that our precious children remain safe is for police to check- in with the predator and monitor his actions. Parents and children should be asked if any near by sex offender has any unusual patterns of behavior, or if they have too much close contact with the children.
There is a reason for the high rate of child molestation and sexual assault, that's because people are not taking the necessary precautions simply because they are not well Ð'-informed. Once people are aware, we can put a stop to this heinous crime.
