Since China initiated the Reform and Opening-Up policy in late 1970s, China has experienced a holistic and explosive development and growth in economies, politics, society and cultures over the past 30 years. Rapid expansion used to be seen as the utmost important goal among the public, however, nowadays more and more people are drawing their attention to a rational and scientific development model, known as sustainable development. And how to take measures to realize sustainable development has been discussed widely.
Economically, we need to establish a resource-saving industry structure and national economic system, which require us to develop and implement a full set of industrial policies and regulations that save energy, optimize other resources and reduce the damage to the environment. The new pattern of frugal and moderate consumption should also be promoted and adopted.
Legislatively, government and legislature would accelerate the law-making about population, resource-saving and environment protection, while at the same time law enforcement agencies and administrative bureaus should work together to strengthen the mechanism of censorship and management.
Naturally, we should devote to improve the ecological environment and reduce the pollution to the air, water and land. Government, on the other hand, need to plan and develop the proper usage of natural land, resources and energies etc. Every one of us has to bear in mind the importance of environment protection and sustainable development for next generations.
To conclude, during the transformation of Chinese economy and society, only do we combine the economic growth to population, resources and environment, as well as balance the current and long-term development, our national economies will embark on a road of virtuous cycle and eventually achieve the objective of sustainable development.
