Chocolate is the favorite sweet for everyone. There are both advantages and disadvantages of chocolate. Therefore, some people said chocolate has not benefit to our health. Chocolate contains flavonoid which helps increasing antioxidants that can protect cells from disease. On the other hand, manufactured chocolate such as milk chocolate are not useful for health. This essay explores some of the issues surrounding chocolate is healthy and arguments that chocolate is unhealthy.
Dark chocolate contains naturally antioxidants which come from flavonoid. Antioxidants helps blood flowing, reduce heart attack and protecting inflammation. Furthermore, studies have found that "Antioxidants are believed to help the body's cells resist damage caused by free radicals. If your body does not have enough antioxidants to combat the amount of oxidation. For example, an increase of oxidation can cause low density lipoprotein (LDL), also known as "bad cholesterol" (ACS, Journal of agricultural and food chemistry, n.d.)
However, some believed that people who consume a lot of chocolate can cause obesity. The true fact is manufactured chocolate for example caramel chocolate that contains a lot of sugar. Moreover, the average milk product is not less a junk food than ice-cream or donuts, and it is equally unhealthy and fattening when large amount are consumed on a regular basis. Although, when milk chocolate or lower grade chocolate is consumed, part of the total fat content of chocolate comes from milk fat or various type of fat, which offers no extra health benefits.
In conclusion, dark chocolate that contains pure cacao more than 70% is healthy than milk chocolate or manufactured chocolate. Therefore, people should not eat too many chocolate per day but in an appropriate amount of chocolate everyday to relief some more stress and healthy as well as normal food.
Recommendations
People who addicted chocolate are less stress than people who do not eat chocolate. Thus, people should eat only dark chocolate instead of manufactured chocolate which can lead to obesity.
