In whole world, celebrating Christmas is perfect when it comes in gift-giving were children mainly centered-around, an important part of Christmas celebration. Perhaps, Christmas means the rebirth, regeneration. Mostly, Christmas is the one of our waiting day that holds all time together to celebrate the Christmas with our families, loved ones culture and traditions.
We all know that children, will always incouraged when it comes in Christmas they expect some gifts from their family, friends even in relatives. And their wishes were came true, but others are not because of poverty they are dreaming that their request will be fulfilled.
So here comes the so-called Santa Claus. many children are trying to be a good one because of their desire to receive a gift from Santa. Santa Claus is not new to us because its just a superstition, myth and foreign belief. But we cant be so cruel to to break their heart though children believed that Santa Claus exist, and bearing gifts. According to Paul (2011), '' They err thinks Santa Claus comes down through the chimney; he really enters through the heart.'' Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and better throughout the year for become a child again at Christmas time.
For Western Christian culture, Santa Claus was reknowned for his extreme kindness and generosity often going out at night and taking presents to the needy. ''Santa Claus comes from the Dutch words Sinter Klaas (the living symbol of selfless giving) which is that they call their favorite saint, St. Nicholas'' (mcCann, 2001).
In 2003, ''Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, they believed that there is a Santa Claus they say, he exists as certainly as love and generosity even in devotion exist. Santa Claus abound and gives highest beauty and joy, he is also a good symbolization of Christmas . In addition, the world were covered with sadness if there were no Santa Claus, no enjoyment, there would be no childlike faith then. Somehow, Santa Claus will continue to make glad the heart of childhood (O'Hanlon, 1897).
However, many disagree with Santa Claus because others believe that Santa Claus is a negative-idealed god, the pagan god of material worship. maybe these was recognizing as myths and impossible to believe, but we must respect each other's beliefs.
Among the customs taken from Western culture they use of Christmas tree by designing a colorful lights, singing of Christmas Carols through out the neighborhood, sending of Christmas Cards, greet their love ones a merries Christmas and their belief in Santa Claus.
