In our business plan, we are proposing a lighter that depends on an electric filament to ignite. Our main feature is its flameless function. We are integrating the technology in the car lighter with a better electric filament. Our product's main advantages over the car lighter are its portability and ability to reduce current drainage as compared to the car lighter.

Potential Customer Segments:

Different variants of the electric lighter may be sold to meet the need of different market segments. Although the most obvious segment this lighter serves are the smokers, our group wishes to target the initial launch of this product to adventure seekers such as hikers and mountain climbers, including the smokers who fall into this group as well.

Product Description

The electric lighter makes use of a dry cell battery to heat up a filament which is hot enough to light a cigarette or burn a paper. The temperature of the filament is comparable to that of a liquid gas lighter.

The advantages of this lighter is that it is able to light a fire despite harsh weather conditions and strong winds. The user just needs to press a button on the lighter and wait for five seconds for the filament to heat up. There is no naked flame, thus, the object to be lighted can just be put directly onto the filament for it to be lighted.

The battery used can be of AA, AAA or 9V. The battery is replaceable. The entire casing of the lighter is water-proofed and sealed for additional protection against electric shocks. There is a built in thermostat that ensures the current of the battery is cut off when the filament reaches a certain temperature. This is to prevent overheating of the filament and the excessive draining of the battery.
