Circle of Life

To be honest, I think our society handles the circle of life better than Jonas's. That's my opinion because I like to have more freedom. For example, when we find a mate, we are allowed to do anything we want with them. We can keep dating, get engaged, and then even get married. When having a baby, the husband and wife show love to each other, welcoming the new child into the world. Parents are allowed to have multiple children, and raise them until they grow up. When a loved one dies, we have a ceremony called a funeral. We list all the good deeds they've done in their live and try to remember them forever.
I wouldn't want to live in Jonas's society because there are too many rules and restrictions to follow, and not enough freedom. When finding a mate in Jonas's society, the Elders have to choose for you, and also marry you and your mate. You have to be at least married to each other for 3 years before applying for a newchild. Newchildren come from a Birthmother, and there is only allowed 2 children per family unit. When someone passes away, they don't have a funeral, like we do. Instead, they have what they call a "Ceremony of loss." At that ceremony, they all chant the person's name over and over, until they forget about that person.
