Our group had decided to do a fund-raising charity event for children in an unfortunate situation of being an orphan.

We’ve chosen keech cottage, a children’s hospice charity.

There are many children in the world that need help to rebuild their lives and with a little bit of our help, they will be able to get the help they need and more care and attention they need to have a normal life.

The children's hospice service supports families from across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes who are caring for a children diagnosed with a life-limiting condition. These children have a wide variety of conditions. Almost all will die before becoming an adult.

The members of my group were me, Rishan, Carl, Kavita and Jaymie. We planned things through carefully, listened to each other and our ideas and took them into account. We did a role play in the assembly. This had a positive impact because it would make it clearer for our audience to understand what’s going on and what we are here for. This gives a clearer picture in people’s heads.

I was the orphan, and I talked about my experience and what it was like. Carl was the dad that left and talked about why he left his child and plays the role as if he didn’t have any feelings for the child. Kavita and jaymie were the organisers of the play and helped us to achieve our best for the role play. We all put our ideas on what we should change in the role play to make it better.

We organised things well because we co-operated well with each other and we discussed things together expressing our opinions and changed what we thought was not right or what wouldn’t work.

I promoted the orphanage and I advertised it all over the internet but I had to talk to the two organisers to get it sorted and where to advertise it.

Our assembly has an impact on the community in a number of ways. Firstly it affects us as a group because we learn how to get involved and share ideas and our listening skills get better, organising and talking things through as a group gets easier and becomes quicker. Therefore we will get much more information and this will lead to more ideas. We can help people in the orphanage
